Crowd-Sourced Johnny Cash Music Video Is a Work of Digital Art
What a great concept: artists from around the world submit their designs for each frame of the video, and fans on the Internet rate each one to create a music video composed of the best individual frames. This is a must-see.
Jordan Tice
I heard one of Tice’s other songs (“Donegal Bay”) on Pandora and I had to stop and check if he was the same artist that did the Firefly theme (he’s not; that was Sonny Rhodes). Not all of his songs have the same vibe, but the guy sure can pick!
Fair - Disappearing World
My favorite band, Fair, released their new album this week. You can hear the full album here: http://bit.ly/dwfair
Fair’s first album, The Best Worst-Case Scenario, was an absolute masterpiece. I shared it with a few friends and it invariably ended up in heavy rotation on their music players. The new release, Disappearing World, is a little darker and has a bit of a retro feel to it. I’ve listened through it a few times now, and while I’d have loved a clone of the first record, I like how this one turns the “poppiness” down just a touch and introduces a bit more track-to-track variety.
If you’ve only got time for one song, check out track 4, “One Last Time”. It’s a straight-up rocker and reminiscent of my favorite song, “Cut Down Sideways” from the first record.
The other two “catchiest” tunes on the record are “Walking in My Sleep” and the title track. However, the one that is really growing on me is the most “retro” of the bunch, “Take Some Risks.”
You can buy their CDs from their label (Tooth and Nail) here. Digital downloads are available from iTunes.
Review: Remastered Beatles are delicious ear candy
I picked up Revolver today. It sounds like a brand new record. Shook the windows in the Corolla on the way to school.
Rainn Wilson bongos his way into a jam session with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer
This video combines two of my favorite things: The Office and Weezer! It looks like SoulPancake is about to release a full interview with Rivers (see the second video for a teaser).
Playing for Change
Check out the “Stand By Me” video. These guys are doing something pretty cool here…
