Firefox was the kick in the pants that Microsoft needed to finally improve IE6. It looks like Chrome will (hopefully) have the same effect on Firefox. Isn’t competition great?
Firefox May Already Be Dead
Make no mistake: the success of Firefox made the new generation of super-fast browsers (Chrome, IE8, etc.) possible. However, if Mozilla doesn’t step it up, Firefox will go the way of Netscape.
The beta version of Firefox has stepped up performance drastically, but I’m afraid that they’ll be playing catch-up until 4.0 drops (whenever that is).

I’ve been using the beta (codename Shiretoko) for a while now. It’s not dramatically different in appearance or behavior, but man, is it fast.
10 Things Songbird Does That iTunes Can’t
I tried Songbird a few months back while it was still just a developer preview. At the time, it looked promising, but not quite ready. Version 1.0 was released a few days back, and from what I’m hearing, it’s pretty solid. I’m still loving Floola, but it’s not quite as stable as I’d like. I think maybe it’s time to give Songbird another shot.
