Dell XPS 400 "Unknown Device"

Recently, I rebuilt a Dell XPS 400 and there was one pesky device in Device Manager that I couldn’t find a driver for. I tried searching Google by the device instance ID (ACPI\AWY001\2&DABA3ff&0), but mostly found other people with the same problem.

Finally, I stumbled upon this post on Dell’s support site. Austinpctech provided the link to the driver for Intel’s Quick Resume Technology: http://bit.ly/v8KDEw

Generally speaking, printing out a webpage is environmentally repugnant and stupid.

For those few times that you have to do it anyway (e.g. print-at-home tickets), this extension allows you to remove ads, navigation bars, logos, and irrelevant text, resulting in a cleaner, hopefully shorter printout.

How to Make Your Android or iOS Mobile Device Show in the "Devices" tab in Spotify

I’ve been a Spotify user for a few weeks now, and recently subscribed to the premium service so that I can sync tracks to my Android device. However, I found that I couldn’t get my local music to sync over wifi to the phone. I though perhaps it was a problem with my Droid X2, but as it turns out, the problem was actually a Windows Firewall setting (thanks to Rex S. for the tip). Here’s how to fix it in Windows 7:

Press the Windows key, then type “allow a program”.
Find “Allow a program through Windows Firewall” at the top of the Start Menu and click on it.
Scroll down the list to find Spotify.
Check the boxes for the networks you want Spotify to be able to access. You will likely find that “Public” is already checked. You’ll want to check “Domain” and/or “Home/Work (Private)” depending on which type(s) of network you connect to.

In a few moments, your device should show up in the “Devices” tab and you will be able to sync all of your playlists!
