Verizon unhappy with 700MHz open access requirements, sues FCC
The telcos are just like the RIAA. Both of them are using the courts to prop up broken business models that stifle competition and fail to give their customers what they want. Fortunately for the wireless carriers, they haven’t yet had to deal with a disruptive technology that threatens their existence in the same way that the recording industry has had to deal with P2P and iPods.
Personally, I hope that Google wins the 700MHz auction. They have the will and the ability to unleash disruptive innovation onto the existing wireless industry.
I’ll be shopping around for a new cell carrier next April…Verizon just removed themselves from the running.
