Why You Can't Find a Wii for Christmas →
I got mine a year ago. Just watch for a store that has it in their Sunday ad (nicely asking a clerk on Saturday night helps), and get there EARLY. Dress warm.

Verizon opens up, will support any device, any app... →
…as long as you’re willing to pay for your bandwidth. Are the telcos finally starting to get it? Is that possible? Of course, it’s unlikely that this would have happened at all if Google’s plan to bid on the 700MHz spectrum wouldn’t have forced their hand.

How to block Facebook Beacon →
Facebook’s great and all, but their much-hyped new advertising platform goes a bit too far. I don’t really need them blabbing about my Christmas purchases to people I might be trying to surprise. All you need to do to permanently opt out of this little “feature” is to load up the BlockSite add-on for Firefox and set it to block http://www.facebook.com/beacon/*

Great Divide Titan IPA →
Wow…now this is a nice IPA. Pours golden-maize with a small creamy head. The aroma and flavor both pack a huge pine-citrus punch, which is tempered somewhat but not entirely balanced by some sweet malt in the background. A dry hop bite lingers for a while in the finish. I think I’ll be buying more of these.

'Milestone' stem cell advance reported →
Scientists have learned how to make stem cells by ‘reprogramming’ human skin cells. This discovery could nullify the ethical concerns surrounding stem cell research by removing the need for human embryos.

Where's my Gphone? →
Today, Google announced that there is no Gphone. What they do have is Android, an open platform backed by many mobile operators and handset manufacturers. This open source platform would allow developers to write device-independent software that will work with the core functionality of the hardware. The first phones using Android should start to ship sometime in late 2008.
