Dell XPS 400 "Unknown Device"
Recently, I rebuilt a Dell XPS 400 and there was one pesky device in Device Manager that I couldn’t find a driver for. I tried searching Google by the device instance ID (ACPI\AWY001\2&DABA3ff&0), but mostly found other people with the same problem.
Finally, I stumbled upon this post on Dell’s support site. Austinpctech provided the link to the driver for Intel’s Quick...

Print Friendly for Chrome Lets You Easily Remove... →
Generally speaking, printing out a webpage is environmentally repugnant and stupid.
For those few times that you have to do it anyway (e.g. print-at-home tickets), this extension allows you to remove ads, navigation bars, logos, and irrelevant text, resulting in a cleaner, hopefully shorter printout.

How to Make Your Android or iOS Mobile Device Show...
I’ve been a Spotify user for a few weeks now, and recently subscribed to the premium service so that I can sync tracks to my Android device. However, I found that I couldn’t get my local music to sync over wifi to the phone. I though perhaps it was a problem with my Droid X2, but as it turns out, the problem was actually a Windows Firewall setting (thanks to Rex S. for the tip)....

Ubuntu Unity 2D gets a PPA for Maverick and Natty... →
I’m testing the alpha release of Ubuntu 11.04 “Natty Narwhal” on a couple of my machines. The new Unity desktop environment looks snazzy, but it’s a bit too much for my little netbook. The 2D version is a lot snappier, and at this early stage it’s also less buggy.

What a great concept: artists from around the world submit their designs for each frame of the video, and fans on the Internet rate each one to create a music video composed of the best individual frames. This is a must-see.

How To Build Your Own Open Source Dropbox Clone →
Using a few free tools, you can create your own Dropbox-esque system on your own network. Due to its sheer simplicity and cross-platform awesomeness, I think I’ll stick with Dropbox for the time being. However, this article turned me on to inotify, which you can use to automatically monitor a file tree in Linux.

New Skype App Available for Android Phones →
The new Skype app has been released for Android (2.1 and higher). The only bummer here is that in the US you still need two apps. The new app allows you to make Skype calls over WiFi, but it does NOT let you use your 3G connection. At least for now, you’ll have to keep the old “Skype Mobile” app around to make calls on the cellular network.

I heard one of Tice’s other songs (“Donegal Bay”) on Pandora and I had to stop and check if he was the same artist that did the Firefly theme (he’s not; that was Sonny Rhodes). Not all of his songs have the same vibe, but the guy sure can pick!
